The fact that the dental Prosthetist as an expert is solely responsible for the clinical and technical procedures results in a more individualized and properly constructed denture. (I.F.D)

Clearly, patients have a right to choose care and services from among a range of qualified dental health care professionals. With the evolution of international base-line competencies, and the development of first-rate retraining and upgrading opportunities, Denturism (dental prosthetists) has come of age. Patients must be free to select the type of service that best meet their needs in terms of personal care, well being and affordability (I.F.D)

Relines

  • A reline is the refitting of the Dentures.
  • Like every part of our body changes with time so do the bones of our jaws. As a result the fitting surfaces of the Dentures are effected and the only reason we do not feel the small changes is because they are taking place over a period of time.
  • Ill fitting dentures do have an effect on faster resorption of the bone.
  • So treat your Dentures as you would treat your eyes with your glasses. We most certainly have a check up at least every two years, we are not waiting until we can not see a thing to visit our optometrist.

Denture and Oral hygiene of an edentulous patient

  • Because we lost our teeth that does not mean that the care of cleaning our mouth stops.
  • Brushing our gums and tongue should be continuing as if we had our teeth.
  • A good massage of the gums maintains a good blood circulation and healthy gums.
  • The Dentures have to be scrubbed with a scrubbing brush and a Denture cleaning paste or even dish washing liquid. Make sure there are no food residues left behind. After the good scrub you can immerse your Dentures in a solution using any of the tablets that are available at supermarkets and Pharmacies.
  • Remember that  a denture that is not clean is a nest for all kinds of micro organisms.
  • Remove your dentures over night. By doing so you give your muscles and gums a good rest as well as the tissue the chance to breath.

New Dentures.

  • The secret of a successful Denture is definitely the skill, professionalism and care of the Dental Prosthetist. There is though another factor just as important, the communication and patience shown from both the Practitioner and the patient.
  • The adjustment period for a new denture is a fact.
  • Soar spots from a new denture do not mean a failure!
  • The patient should never be expected to get used to pain due to the Denture. It is a job for the practitioner to solve the problem and the patient should expect this service, it is the responsibility of the Practitioner to make the prosthesis comfortable for the patient.
  • The patient should get the chance and the time to see and discuss the aesthetics of the Dentures. After all is the patient that has to be happy with the appearance and his or her smile.
  • Have always in mind that a denture is the artificial replacement of your natural teeth .It is not fixed and studies shown that it only reaches 25-30% of mastication satisfaction in comparison with the one with natural dentition.
  • Be patient with your Dentures and co-operate with your Dental Prosthetist in order to learn how to use satisfactory your prosthesis.

We do offer these services and we expect our patients participation on aesthetic matters

  • For any further information a free consultation with us will answer all your questions.
